1st Grade Education

So during dinner tonight, Crystal was telling me all about her typing class in school. She knows where her hands go on the keyboard and which fingers push which keys etc. I was in shock. I asked her if they do it in front of a computer, and she said yes, they go to a computer lab a couple times a week.

Seriously. I dont think the next generation will have any problems with all the new technology if they are dealing with todays technology in 1st grade. I didnt take my first typing class till 8th or 9th grade. And it was on keyboards and computers that ran word perfect.

Can you imagine watching Crystal typing a document without looking at her hands?

Things sure have changed.

Halloween Costume

Yesterday we went to Jordan Landing and bought Halloween Costumes. We went to the Sears store. Of course we also looked at fridges too. It was really fun.

Then we went to Peir 49 Pizza Place and ate. It was really really fun.

Thats all.

Pushing Daisies

So I just watched Pushing Daisies online on abc's website. It was excellent. Clean, funny, quirky, silly, everything. The show is narrated about this guy who can bring ppl back to life with the touch of his finger. But there are certain caveats to his power. Its very humorous and intriguing. It was also very clean, no swearing, nothing. I loved it. I highly recommend it.

Comes on every Wednesday night on ABC. You can watch almost all of ABC's shows online if you miss them.

Tishme

I want to blog this so I never forget it. Bailey can be so adorable. Amy told me of this time when she was corrected about the proper way to say "tissue". Bailey explained that if you give someone a tissue, its said "tissue". But if you get one for yourself, its "tishme".

Bigger TVs

For lunch today I went to Brett's house with Brett cause he wanted to show me how awesome Phantom of the Opera is on HDDVD on his big screen TV. So we went there and I had stroganoff, and we began to watch Phantom on his HUGE screen TV in HDDVD.

I was totally immersed. The detail was noticeably pristine. When they did a close-up, it was like you were standing right there staring at the person. You could see every imperfection.

Of course, that is just the HDDVD talkin.

The big screen was AWESOME! When they panned out to show the entire Opera House with everyone clapping, it was simply amazing. It was unreal.

Anyway, I was converted.

If there ever comes a time in my life where I decide TV will play a more prominent role, Im going for the big screens or nothing.

Oh, and dont get me started on Phantom - only one of the greatest movies ever made EVER!

Neighborhood Smores

Tonight was fun. On the way home I had a spontaneous idea to invite a few families to our house for a Smore's cookout in our backyard fire ring. I invited Matt & Tiffany Hogan who brought their 2 kids, and Jeremy & Jolene Beard who brought their 3 kids, and Scott & Jessie Hunter who have 4 boys. They are all the same ages as our kids (except Bridger). I asked them all to come at 7pm and that we would cook till 8pm, then everyone could go home and put kids to bed.

At 7pm-ish, everyone showed up. It was really fun. We provided marshmallows, choclate bars, graham crackers, and hot choclate. We cooked and talked for an hour while the kids just ran all over creation and played on that Monkey Bar dome-thing and got yelled out for playing with the fire and chasing each other with the marshmallow skewers, and we cooked about 50 marshmallows total and drank about 2 gallons of hot choclate. It was really really really fun. And I think campfire food tastes better when its a little cold outside, which it was.

Anyway, 1 hour was perfect. None of the kids wanted to go home of course, but we said our goodbyes, burned all the trash, put the chairs away, and had our kids ready for bed by 8:30ish.

It seems to me that the spontaneous activites are always the funnest.

Crystal Takes Care of Me

Crystal was so sweet a few nights ago. I had a headache all day long, and when I came home, I had had it long enough it made me nautious, and so I just wanted to lay down, which I did. She wanted to play with me sooo bad, but I turned her down enough that she left (I always feel bad later for doing such).

A few minutes later she came in with 2 bowls and a sippy cup of water. She said that one bowl was for if I threw up, and the sippy cup was so I could rinse out my mouth, and then I could spit the water into the other bowl. It was soooo sweet, she did it all on her own. So I played a few easy games like "guess the animal" or "name things in the house that start with letters of the alphabet" that I could play while I lay there.

Anyway, I have good kids.
