VON

So last week me and Mike Lyman got to go to the VON show in San Jose California for 2 days. VON is Voice/Video on the Net. Its a show where vendors come and show everyone all their neat products for doing phone calls over the internet and video over the internet. There were some AMAZING products there too. Some of them we will be adding to the products we sell at Lyman Bros. Phone over the internet is getting so stinking cheap. I talked to one company who charged 1/2 a penny per minute anywhere in the US with no other fees at all period. Some other products were some in house systems that would do 16 phones and then calls over the net, and it was FREE!!! You just had to provide the PC to put the software on. Oh, and the phones are about $40 each. But still, it was really awesome.

Of course I spent alot of time in the hot tub at night. And we ate out alot. We went to a REALLY REALLY nice restaurant which reminded me of being on the cruise cause the service was amazing, but the hamburgers were $16! And that was about the cheapest thing on the menu. I order a steak wrap thing, and it was $24. It was pretty good, but not $24 good.

But anyway, the show was excellent, and Im glad I was able to go.

Movie Weekend

This last weekend was full of movies for me, I saw 3 of them.

First I went and saw The Last Mimzy friday night. It was a really good story, but they didnt pull it off very well. But I enjoyed it anyway.

Then Saturday morning I saw Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I took Rooker and Crystal, and Daniel came with us. Watching the preview, it looked like it would be a fun kids movie, nothing big. But when I saw the movie, it was EXCELLENT. The storyline was good, the jokes were funny, it was serious enough not to be stupid, everything Splinter said was cool, and the fight scenes were freaking awesome!!! I loved it. It was WAY better than I thought it would be. Crystal and Rooker loved it too.

Saturday night me and Ed went and saw Shooter. This is a movie about a retired Army sniper who the government asks to help them stop a planned assassination attempt on the President of the US. But when it all goes down, it turns out they were framing him for the assassination attempt. He of course runs away, and then the rest is The Fugitive story with a sniper guy. It was really kind of fun to watch, and the sniping scenes were of course really cool. The ending was kinda stupid though. But all in all it was enjoyable.

So it was a good weekend for me.

I have a dream

Its simple.

Eddie and Sadie need to buy that new house that is for sale just 2 lots down from us. Its about the cheapest house in all of South Rim right now at $320,000.

Then,

If (me or Eddie) OR (me AND Eddie) somehow purchased the lot in between the 2 houses. Seriously, how cool would that be?

I already mentioned to Crystal that Maddie may end up living there, and she went berserk about how cool that would be and she could just ride her bike to Maddies, or we could build a trail between the 2 houses, blah blah blah, and for a split second, I saw paradise in her eyes.

So I mean, not to put the pressure on or anything...

[ 1 hour later ]
Crystal just said her prayers and was thankful that Maddie was moving next door soon. :)

Something's Changed

Well, something has changed. Maybe I actually am getting older. Maybe there is such a thing as maturity or something.

But more and more lately, I find myself listening to either NPR radio on the way home or 97.9 the breeze with smooth jazz. I dont know what it is? The drive is just so much more pleasant when either of them are on.

That and a pack of Dill flavored Spits Sunflower Seeds.

Sign at the DMV

I went to the DMV to register our red car, and I saw the funniest sign at the ladies desk. It read:

"I'm smiling because I'm visualizing myself taping your mouth shut with duct tape."

It made me laugh - and it was probably not too far from the truth.
